It has been a chaotic day, and you are in need of a soothing R&B elixir that you can listen to on repeat, to drown your sorrows in. Through this oddly cathartic method, you feel rejuvenated. Look no further than R&B band KARMACODA who have released the new R&B jam ‘Make Me The One’. This single will feature on their forthcoming album Slow Down, Melt and Catch Fire , which is set for release on the 28th of May via Sola Musa Music.
Singer & songwriter Jessica Ford (Hallman Award) adds pungent notes to the romantic & atmospheric instrumentals of this ballad. This release is bound to make the listener stop in their tracks. Although carrying sad sentiments, sung with undeniable conviction it ends up being quite an empowering listen. It is exactly what you need in times of uncertainty.
With the state of the world, this band has persevered, member Eric Matsuno was in awe of Jessica’s stripped-down version of the track: “I listened to Jessica’s raw take on ‘Make Me The One’ and I shed a tear, feeling a kind of truth that can’t be better described.”
‘Soho Bedroom Party’ is the latest single from electronic rock band The Hideaways. The release finds them teaming up with fellow Bristolians Tiny Dyno.
The collaboration started in December 2020 when Tiny Dyno began a rework of the song. “It was intended to be a remix but I’m too much of a pop fiend to endlessly loop intros and middle eights” remarked the track’s producer and Tiny Dyno guitarist Tom Kuras, “it quickly became apparent that this was something different for both bands”.
The single opens with a rush of rumbling bass and pummeling 4/4 disco rock drums. The sparse instrumentation continues as The Hideaways front man Danny Pugh asserts “tomorrow we’ll be astronauts, I promise nothing less”. The minimalism is sacrificed in the chorus. with the addition of kinetic percussion and glistening synths. Pugh is also accompanied by Tiny Dyno’s Emily Gardiner adding her powerful presence and eloquent delivery.
The collaboration results in a departure in sound for both acts. ‘Soho Bedroom Party’ finds The Hideaways eschewing the hard rock production of previous releases, luxuriating in the sounds and production techniques of the late 70’s and early 80’s. Their larger than life lyrics still remain as songwriter Danny Pugh instructs the listener to “Finish the hour, leave me to rest, run through Soho in your Gucci dress.”Tiny Dyno’s fetish for melodic pop and wall of sound production remains strong despite this being their first release without regular collaborator Robot Club (Massive Attack, Nick Cave, Tom Waits).
Mastered by Rik Dowding (Portishead, The Horrors, Primal Scream, The XX) ‘Soho Bedroom Party’ offers a glimpse of exciting things to come with individual releases scheduled for 2021.

Spotify’s New Music Friday has always been one of our favourite places to discover the hottest and newest releases. Felix Cartal and Kiiara’s ‘Happy Hour’ is an unstoppable mix of happy vibes and enticing basslines that lead us down a road of mischievous drinking, a little partying and a whole lot of fun.
A self-described “loser-anthem” (in Felix Cartal’s own words), the single will leave all who hear it longing for a beach, a half-price cocktail and the simplicity of a summer break. The single is the first original piece of work that the two have released together however, the pair have been in contact for years – since Felix Cartal remixed Kiiara’s ‘Feels’ (which was also remixed by Jai Wolf and AWAY).
Kiiara has established a firm social media presence, with just under 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, nearly a million followers on Facebook and over 350k followers on Instagram. She’s collected over 2 billion streams across platforms, with features hit singles from DavidGuetta, LinkinPark, and CheatCodes to boost that number. However, her own work is quickly allowing her to take over the airwave. Check out the single with the dynamic duo below.

“This song was inspired by the shocking and cathartic beauty of the Northern Lights. I became obsessed with the natural phenomenon and wanted to write a song about what the experience would be like if the northern lights were happening inside of my being.” – MaryaStark tells us about her single, ‘Stargazer ft. Elijah Ray’.
