Nothing old fashioned about OFLB’s ‘I Pray’

Old Fashioned Lover Boy is the nom de plume of Alessandro Panzeri, the Milan-based singer/songwriter  who has recently released the jazz-infused, fervent single ‘I Pray.’

His first EP in 2014, The Iceberg Theory, saw OFLB gaining momentum in native Italy, but with his 2016 debut album, Our Life Will Be Made Up Of Simple Things, containing the breakout hit, ‘Oh My Love’ the artist started to pique the interest of a wider audience, gaining a following in the UK and abroad. He has shared stages with the likes of Paolo Nutini, Hurts, Andy Shauf, Micah P Hinson and Scott Matthews, and can boast having been part of Gibson Guitar’s extensive 100-date tour across Europe.

Panzeri’s vocals are a mouthful of atmosphere, and ‘I Pray’ is characterised by the singer’s soulful crooning. The track comes across as sincere and heartfelt, while managing to steer well clear of the dangers of becoming self-indulgent. ‘I Pray’ is surely Old Fashioned Lover Boy’s most mature offering to date, and looks set to be a quantum leap forward for Panzeri.
